short answer no.
Cheap cables Vs Decent quality cables = Large difference
Decent quality cables Vs monster cables = very limited difference for a huge price difference
You should be able to pick up very good cables for the 1/4 of the monster price
Personally I use www.hosatech.com most of their stuff is Gold plated or nickle.. you can pick.. sturdier than the average electronic store or department store cables... and most of them are between $10-20.

Monster cables are terrible, and the company is about as unethical as they come. They sue everyone that uses the name "Monster" and have put many small businesses under by doing so(and also taken large settlements from big corporations for (Monsters Inc, Monster Energy drink,...)). They are the typical greedy corporation that will step on anyone for money.
They have incredible marketing and I am amazed at how many people pay alot of money for poorly made cables. They have nice packaging and all the people that work at audio stores talk it up cause they mark it up 3-400%. You can get better quality cables at radio shack!

Monster cables are pretty good as they go. Are they much better in terms of fidelity than a well made, no name balanced cable run? well, no not really.
But the best thing about monster cable has always been the sheath they are made of. It holds its shape. Therefore you can have loads of them and not get them tangled, or you can bend them around and over surfaces - to keep them up against walls for instance. If you have a few patchbays and are running serious amounts of cable, monster stuff is pretty good for project studio use. They are extremely expensive though, and I dont really consider the price worth it. But if I had loads more disposible income I would probably use them.

I love Penny Arcade. Their Star Wars Galaxies stint was classy and so very depressingly true :*)
