how to route this in logic

basically i want to take a single instrument track and double it. i want to do this so that i can add an effect to the second and have the first unaffected. that what i can have the uneffected audio track as well as the one with the effect playing at the same time. i could take the time to copy the instrument patch(es2) exactly for the second track but that would be difficult as well as it wont be the same exact output as the first.

thanks for the help.

Create 3 Aux Busses (Bus 1, Bus 2, Bus 3 for example).
Round the output of the Track you want to duplicate to Bus 1
Then change the imput of Bus 2 and Bus 3 to Bus 1.
Then the trac kwill play on Both Bus 2 and Bus 3.

if you only want FX on one copy, then apply effects to, say, Bus 2.

Bloody hell, why do you need 3 buses to do this, surely you just need a single send with the effect on?

That's a good idea, and much less complicated. I think I'll try that myself. Thanks!

Go to your channel strip and add a Bus to the sends. Then bring up your mixer and the bus you have created should be there as Aux1. Add a reverb/delay/compressor or whatever you want. And then send a little bit of the signal from your channel strip to the bus/aux1 that you have just created.

I'm gathering that this is what you want to achieve.
