It sounds sort of like a boiler overheating. It starts at 30 seconds ends at 40 seconds, then starts at 60 seconds again.

sounds like a simple saw-wave synth in an upper octave that gets glissando'd/portamento'd. Maybe some lfo/gated effect in there to make it waiver.

get a mic and record a hot water heater boiling over or a kettle on a stove

It sounds to me like a hardstyle screecher, did you try distortion on said saw wave and detune it a bit?

Yes. I tried some distortion but it didn't help much. I agree I think its definitely detuned. I tried messing around with a freq shifter and I got a bit of closer results with that but it's still not even close to the actual sound.
I just tried that skyhunter and got 1000x closer than with the saw wave but it's still just not right, its like not clean enough or something I'm not sure how to describe it.
