Need some help. Mixing

Hey.

Does this sound weird mixing wise? I really don't know any longer. I would really appreciate your opinion before I continue and possibly end up screwing the whole song up. It's just 8 bars looped atm and download is enabled. Any pointers would be of great help.

Thanks in advance.

Layer your pads, synths with a few more vst instances.
Put some bass boost behind your kick on like 60-80Hz or so, layer the bassline as well and add a bass boost on that as well, makes it stand out a lot more. After that rework your volumes so it doesn't peak

Thank you. I'll rest my ears and see what I can come up with.

Brad - Can you elaborate? Agree with ScuL? To bad to describe with words? You can be honest about it.

not really.

using cake as a metaphor, you have say 1 egg, and a spoon. That looks weird. Not even sure why you bother to preview 3 elements. do your track, then mix it.

I disagree the kick needs more bottom; I find there's plenty of bass. Instead, the piano is too loud and masking it. The bass could have more bottom, I agree. In fact, put it an octave lower or layer a sub under it. Add more elements, though. Can't really say how to mix it better when the full set of instruments isn't there yet. Try to separate the pad more from the piano with EQ as well so they're not both colliding in the mids.

Ohh the song is finished. And I love it. That's why I want to get the mixing as good as possible. The reason I just asked about this little loop is because: I don't want people to hear the whole thing before it is finished. And I needed that information I got from ScuL and Atlantis, it is invaluable to me because I can now fix those things with the bass before I've completed the mixing. It would have been a pain in the ass to realise that in a later stage when I would have needed to go back and correct every sound again to make it sit with the new bass.

I was thinking about layering a sub bass under it. I like the sound of the existing one, but your right, it got no power. I shall squeeze that current one in there to have it as the audible. I also suspected the piano was a little to loud so thanks for sorting that out.

Your and ScuLs information have helped me tremendously. I think I know now what needs to be done. So a big thanks to you both and a little one to Clooney for that sweet metaphor!

Just to correct myself, I meant to say "now both colliding in the mids" before, in case that typo wasn't clear. Try pulling the piano back around 1 kHz.
