I have a track and I believe it to be very good but there is a trancey part that covers midrange to highrange and it sounds like it is in the background and I want to bring it to the front.I have tried the eq and it is doing more damage to it than good really.Here I will post it and if you could possibly hear it and see what it needs as far as makin the midrange come in it would be appreciated.

The sound kicks in in the beginning of the tune where the beat starts and it sounds fine there but I use the same sound in the end of the tune and it sounds like some kinda level is off.The sound is the melodic plinks and it has echoes of a higher octave applied to it.
I have had a way easier time bringing out high hats and basslines but midranges are freakin hard.PLease help me

mess with the eq. search for the eq topic. whole chart of equing and what each freq. does. that will help

and mess wtih some effects to bring it out more.

I thought it might also help to say I made it in fruity.Is there anything better than the 8 band eq in there?That one misses the frequncy im trying to alter.

As for your reply inferno.I went to that post and due to the fact there are so many programs used its kinda worthless but I do appreciate your reply and help in this matter.

how is that worthless? it gives you a universal ballpark for eq editing. more like priceless.

bringiing out the midrange is simply a matter of doing the mixdown right

analyze your track and try to find out wich instruments that use the midrange the most...then carefully EQ theese right and it should do the trick

just remember, analyzing your track over and over again is the key to success when it comes to getting that perfect sound

allrighty I did a few things and brought out the midrange including

I eased up the compression on the master and got another compressor over the bass which was overtaking the mids
I adjusted the eq slighty for the midrange
I turned up the instrument itself like one notch

I feel this is the first song I have taken the time to do this slight adjustments with and now relize that many sight adjustments make a pretty big change.Im replacing the old with the new so if you guys can give it a listen and tell me if you notice a difference that would be really cool.

another fast tip, don't use a compressor on the master, compress every instrument by itself instead...

masteringengineers hate when you do a compression on the whole track (now you might not get this one mastered but it's always good to get rid of bad habbits )

I don't know if its my crappy hearing or what but I can't seem to notice the effects of a compressor on a single instrument.I think I might start a new thread called the magic of the compressor so I can get a basic idea how to use it properly

but good compression won't be heard...f.ex. a compression on a synth will be very gentle because you don't want the sound to loose it's dynamics (as you might now, much compression = big loss in dynamics and vice versa)

the compression on a synth is simply there to prevent it from clipping if it has some sudden peaks...

a compression for a synth might look something like -1db to -2db threshold and a 2:1 ratio

the hard thing with a compressor is that you don't always hear the result as you do with f.e a reverb or an EQ...you just have to trust that it works
