Question Have I made the JP-8080 sound?

Hi

I'm (like so many other people) really interested in getting that "JP-8000/JP-8080 sound" with software only.

I'm actually close to purchasing the JP-8080. That's how much I like it!

So I messed around with the Pro-53 VSTi in Cubase and tried to recreate it. Would be cool to save the money

I'm really a production newbie, so please tell me what I need to change i order for it to sound more like the real deal.

Pro-53 sample:
Dane_JP-8080.rar

Thanks
Dane

I never used Pro-53, just curious, how many more Saw's can you add to that current one Detuned? It's close, but lacking the thickness to it in my opinion. The Saw's are not screaming at me, type deal.

I think u need about 5 more Detuned.

There are 2 saws in the Pro-53.

The sample is made with 3 Pro-53 copies, just playing different octaves.

I think that's the only way to play the melody because it's Unison?

that is getting close.. but you still have a ways to go... the JP 8080 sounds more crisp and clean than the sample you posted. Try adding a whitenoise on top of it and play around with the EQing... there are too much mids

Thanks for the replies!

I have actually just bought the JP-8080, I hope I don't regret it if the sounds can be made with just software

I will try some of the tips you gave me and update the thread when I have tweaked the sound a little more.

PS: Isn't the real JP-8080 sound "deeper" overall compared to my sample?

Nice buy!

Well, now you probably know what the JP-8000 sound sounds like but to the guys without it, the sample is a little bit too analogue and not as artificial as the real one.

Don't you mean that my sample is too Artificial and the real JP-8080 is more Analog?

The other way around

Nope, the JP-8080´s supersaw is to "perfect".. It is really hard to reproduce that sound with a real analog syntheziser..

yep thats is true its hard to create it but it needs another detuned setting and a bit more depth and clearity to the sound still sounds real filterd.

Of course I can:

Here is the .p5f file:
JP-8080.p5f

Remember that I used 3 Pro-53 copies playing different octaves and I use a EQ, Reverb, Delay & Limiter in Cubase SX to make it fatter sounding.

When my JP-8080 arrives, I'll try and mimic the sound the best I can and post an updated sample.
