Another method of "sidechaining" in Reason!

Hey all!

Ive managed to get a sidechaining effect going in reason

Thought you all might like to look at the wiring so you can use it in some of your tracks! Took me ages to figure out lol so i hope its useful to you all!

I basically merged the NN19 and subtractor together in a spider, then conected them to a compressor, I connected this compressor to another spider (merge). From this spider I then wired it the first spiders splitting section and then from the splitting section output to another compressor and then finally to the mixer...complex! lol!

I had to eq and filter down the BD however or it was way to clicky and loud, also reduce the volume on the subtractor (or whatever you decide to connect for sidechaining). I also stuck a another NN19 with a BD loaded in there so that it plays over the original BD...sorry if i didnt explain it too well! But here is the link for the rns so you can see for yourself!

P.S. - If you want to increase the ducking effect, just turn the volume of the BD up that is connected to the subtractor! Cheers!

I'm always greatful of new 'sidechaining' methods to use in my favourite producing software whilst we wait for the 3.0 bad boy!

What is the purpose of sidechaining? What does it achive. I hear the talk about it, but like to know how does it help in production.

it basically moved the bass away from the kick and therfore giving the kick more chance to "thump" as its not contending with the bass frequencies.
