Help with track

Ok this is as far as i have gotten with this. Its kind of a ruff edit as for the part where the trance lead and beat breaks in im tottaly scraping that. But i dont know if the strings are working with it and where to take it after the break down.

any advice would be great.

I have been using an Alesis Micron and fruity loops.I just record into wavelab and import waves into fruity.

here is a link to it

hxxp://www.geocities.com/happyfillmore2000/TrackSample.mp3

Replace x's with t's cuz stupid geocities doesnt allow links.

just replace x's with t's and copy into your address bar to play it

I'm not sure if by the 'strings' you mean that bassy synth thing, but yeah, those aren't working too well. Maybe if it had some filters and somekind of transformation to it? I love the way you layed down some of the percussions. Musically, it sounds alright. But alot of your synths don't have a really good sound to them. They sound almost preset-like. Maybe you could try looking for new sounds to replace them. As for what's after the buildup, I could see somesort of superstring playing long and high notes on top of that arp - but that's just me.

I can't really say much because I'm not sure what exactly you're asking. Also, you might have some better feedback in the producer promotion forum.

Good luck with the track. It needs work but it's a start and I think it's got potential.

thanks

LoL i made half of the sounds on the micron but some were presets the strings were anyway but the heavy analog stab i created as for the bass which one do u mean the plucky on top of the lower bass i got two basses in there ones cut lower than the other and doesnt carry any delay.

Glad u like the percussion i used a mk28 drum machine for that kick and snare and some of the hats and the sticks/toms were from my micron.I created them from a preset that was a blip sound and i sat for an hour to create the stick sound with the reverb.

i like how the hats start almost like a melodey kinda cool.

i dont know if i wanna change the sounds tho cuz i have already gone too far and im afraid i will get a writers block or loose interest and mess it up.

when i start to make something i have like this groove going and i picture the track in my head but when i start changing stuff i get aggravated.

i mean its tottaly listenable but theres still a ton of work to do.

your right about adding sum sort of super string to it like make the strings cut high and bring the res up with more reverb and let them run as my lead after the breakdown maybe.

well see but thanks for the response it was much appreciated.

You could always finish writing everything as is, and then save that for the end. It's kinda like remixing your own track.

Well, imo the kick and bass should be more front, and that string more in the background. And it definately needs more drive. More high frequency percussions -shakers maybe. And an arpeggio playing in the mid - mid-low frequencies. Also, I think you have too much reverb, especially on the clap.

Ok i added some maracas/shakers and i added not so much an appregiated lead but a hi frequency lead that sounds very acidy.I lowered the reverb on the snare and kick and i also took the lower bass and put some attack to it so it gives it a rise effect.I also lowered the first string line a bit.

tell me what you think now.

I didnt want to brink the kick up any higher tho cuz i dont want it to distort and over take the track i want the energy from the stab to give it what it needs.

its sounding really good on my end so far i gotta get some real monitors and a sound card tho lol im using pc speakers and a cheap soundcard

Sounds definitely better now. Hi freqs are good and I really like the lead you added. But it lacks some low end, I don't know if you can hear that on you pc-speakers.

hmmm

I dont know what u mean by low end cuz im still a newb at this but i did fix that lead a little bit.I waited to attack on the 8th and built a small enveloped/semi gated rise to introduce the lead so it just doesnt come out of nowhere.

as for the lo end i dont know what to do with it.Im completely lost when it comes after the breakdown and im running low on cpu

heres the link to what ive done so far

hxxp://www.geocities.com/happyfillmore2000/TrackSample.mp3

Ok heres what ive done so far i decided to give it more atmosphere but not sureif its too much?

i added another set of strings i recorded from my micron its the same notes as the ones in the breakdown but with a higher notes up the scale.

Only thing is i got it running thru the same effects channel as the other deep strings and i dont know if that is limiting it too much.Should i start a whole new effects channel for them or keep them where they are or just scrap the second set of strings.

bit confused here is all

any advice would be much appreciated.
