you don't necessarily need a guitar to use Guitar Rig. i mean, obviously, it'll sound best with one rather than a synth but playing around with tones and mic modeling and stuff you can get some pretty interesting sounds with it.

hey little boy, if you don't know the difference between a VST intstrument and a VST effect...I¨m quite surprised you found this forum...or did someone tell you how to get here?

It's a VST effect plug in. For instance..you can load up ReFX's Slayer2 VST and have it on with Guitar rig and it'll make it sound more warmer and such and such. It's like digital amps for digital guitar...i guess. lol
