If i take a track that i've made and open the phase analysis window in adobe audition it spikes all over the place. Where as if i take a professional track and do the same it shows a constant straight line going diagonally left to right.

Don't know if i've explained it very well but does anyone know why my track does this?

Is it just bad EQing?

Straight 45 degree angle on a phase scope whilst a track is playing means it's mono.. There is no phase difference between L & R in that case. The line is 45 Degress because y = x.

You must have something messed up somwhere..

Yours is stereo hence the bouncy bouncy

Oh, and lots of delay (as found in your track)can produce some nasty phase effects. Try panning your effects in a little.

As a comment on your track, try bringing down your faders some, and if you have any compressors or limiters on the master ouput take them off. It's clipping and distorying everywhere, leading to very very poor sound..

Theat's certainly not helping you. It's hard to offer more advice until the whole mix isn't saturating past the point of distortion.

hmmm thats got me thinking coz i've bought digital tracks for djing that i'd thought were stereo and they are 45 degree lines as well so they must be dual mono then to compensate

Thanks for the advice

I had been messing around with L2 limiter in waves prior to putting it online. I should really buy some good speakers just using my headphones just now.

quick tip for L2... it should only be attenuating by a few dB, cutting just the highest peaks while leaving the rest of the signal untouched, only a bit louder. be very careful when applying mastering effects such as compression and limiting, they can easily wreck a track. Also, check out the eq-ing of the bass region... you've got a big peak at 129 Hz and a hole in the spectrum at 105 Hz. Cool track otherwise!!
