Monkey Dancer 2 Need some ideas

I Been working on this beat, it has a tropical/african feel to it. But as im trying to progress I can't seem make a melody or get the right timbre...It's kicking my ass and i don't wanna just throw it away you know.

Got's any ideas???

Have you tried putting a bassline in there? And you have some sounds going off and on in the background -- maybe try bringing one of them forward and doing something to it?

I actually have a sort of tropical thing going nowhere, too, and I kind of like it so I don't want to just throw it out. Here it is:

Thats pretty smooth! Slow bpm, and chilled tropical feel. You shouldn't throw it away, that'd be a crying shame...
