SoundBlaster's Midi and my Virus b
Hello,
I just got in my first hardware synth (Virus b) and I am having troubles getting my sequencer to trigger the Virus (get sounds out of it). I have been able to connect my midi keyboard to my soundblaster and not have any problems.
The cable I am using to connect my soundblaster to the Virus is a cable that has two ports on either end. On one end there is a female and male port, one of which connects to the soundblaster joystick/midi port. On the other end of the cable are two regular midi plugs, one marked in and one marked out. I have tried pluging in both to the Virus but I assume the one marked IN should be the correct plug going into the Virus.
I have used this same cable to attach the midi keyboard to the soundblaster but have used the OUT midi port and havent had any problems.
Is the joystick/midi port on the soundblaster capable of both receiving and sending midi signals?
I have Cubase 5.1 and Cakewalk 9.03 and cant get either of them to work. I believe I set my properties correctly in both applications setting the midi channel to 1 and also 1 on my synth. When I press a key in cakewalk the little midi icon in my system tray in the lower right corner of my screen shows that a midi out signal has been pressed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Peter
