hi you haven't mentioned what OS of the virus you're on? I'm on 3.X and i've been having some issues but not to the point where i'm ready to throw the thing out the window. 2.5 was by FAR the most stable OS they made, in fact i've thought about switching back numerous times if it wasn't for the 3rd USB output

Ok,
I can confirm the OS/firmware and VC are the latest 3.x version, I've done a hard reset on the unit and I definitely don't use the snow version of the plug-in. I can't find any multiple-copies or anything so I guess there is only one installation.
Voyeur what sort of problems are you experiencing?
(I'm seriously considering moving the TI back to midi/audio... again)

I think im going to get rid of the TI and buy an Andy A6... i'm sick of this pseudo-total-lack-of-integration...
If it worked perfectly via midi/audio i'd move back to that .. but even then it still gives me timing and note-not-triggered issues.. bas&t&ard thing..

One thing I didn't think to ask.. The VirusControl plugin is now white instead of charcoal grey as it used to be.. is that correct even for the Desktop? I definately load the right named version from the plug-in list..but who knows..

Yes, that's the new GUI for the 3.x Virus Control - it's the same for all TI versions. Sucks that you're having so many problems - hope you get it sorted.
Also, I wouldn't take Access completely at their word - even though there may not have been bad batches, there's no way you'd convince me that their QC is 100% effective; bad units do leave their factory on occasion. Since you stated that you have had the same problem on a PC, that suggests a problem with the TI or the USB cable (assuming you used the same cable) itself. It might be worth your time to try a new USB cable before trying a more drastic measure (e.g., selling the unit). If you do have a bad unit, you won't have much luck selling it anyway, so it's worth your time/money to figure that out now, even if it means covering shipping costs for Access to examine it.

I'm also wondering about the USB if that might be making issues worse, what usb port should i plug it into (are there any differences between the 3 on the back vs the one on front) and i also have a number of usb things plugged in that are all essential.. my midi interface/kybd/mouse/silly dongles (syncrosoft/pace etc) and I'm wondering if these could be reducing the bandwidth for the TI's port.. but what to do as I can't remove any of them.. |
I'm assuming based on this statement that your TI is NOT plugged into a USB hub, correct? You may want to try moving your dongles to a USB hub and see if that solves the problem - it's generally considered a safer place for them anyway (as I found out the hard way).

i owned 2 virus ti's in the space of 3 years , i ran both without any usb , control via pc etc , just a midi ( not even a midi out ) external clocked turned off in the virus ti and the first machine was sweet in multi mode , the second ? shite .....I tried all os including betas) .......there is a generic design flaw built into the hardware that effects SOME machines and not others , access sold a dodgy batch of these and never recalled them and have spent the last 3 years trying to make out its an os problem , its NOT , the machine has design flaws but also some have been sold with faulty cpus , its fine in single mode and some run ok in multi mode , some DO NOT due to defective hardware and parts.THATS A FACT , sorry to spell it out but its not os issues and its been going on for YEARS .ACCESS should be sued , they are bunch of skumbags who sell superb sounding gear they know is defective.Gliicthes , pops , ckicks in multi mode with 3 parts all day and night long with NO usb and nothing else , its really substandard and 2 identical machines can run the same os and one is fun ??????i have tested machines nect to each other , one is fucked and one is not ITS HARDWARE ! AND ITS BEING SOLD LIKE THIS BY ACCESS.
ps.you jonhno are one in 1000's........its sick what acces have done , really sick as they know this is a hardware issue but they cant afford to remedy it via recall of units. Its NOT OS issues.
psps
i base what i say on using and testing multiple access virus ti's all
with no usb connected and running all versions of os , some work ok , some less ok some not at all in multi mode , ITS HARDWARE DESIGN FLAWS AND FAULTY PARTS.
