Axiom or Axiom Pro

Is there a major difference in the pro version that will really blow my mind away making it worth pay out the extra cash to get it?

The main difference is that the Pro version has M-Audios version of Automap so there are templates for many VST synths and effects. How useful that is to you I don't know as most DAWS allow you to customise similar functionality anyway. I personally despised Novations Automap for solving a problem that never existed.

For me at least

just get the original axiom.. the extra features on the pros can't justify the crazy price difference between the two imo.

What a load of S*(&$, the knobs on the normal axioms are so incredibly bad....

Spend a little more and get pro, or look at other models IMO.

The knobs are segmented from 1 to 127, each tick being 1 in value.

I hate my axiom for that reason alone....

I have owned both and still own the Axiom Pro 49. Which of the 2 you want to invest in really depends on 2 things.

1) Are you just looking for a cheap MIDI keyboard with no other flashy features like pressure pads, faders, knobs, and custom mapping controls? If the answer is yes, then just go with the Axiom. You aren't looking for any extra features, and the keys on the regular Axiom will be more than suitable.

2) If you want a little hands on control of plug-ins and your DAW (a little, not full control), then the Axiom Pro will be what you want. Although you could technically use the Pro as a full-on control surface, it is best used for hands on control of a little of everything.

Personally, I use it to record plug-in automation since it's super easy to get control of the parameter you want to control and you don't need to map anything to any plug-ins. The Axiom Pro does it all for you automatically! You also get transport control, save, zoom, and cycle controls via the numerical keys and ASCII commands, also mapped automatically.

There's my $0.25
