Yeah, you need good monitors and or headphones, some VST synths, lots of good samples, lots of time and effort, and probably a better Host as well.
I'm guessing you have the version of Reason that came with your PT setup, so thats not really going to work that well for you. Also, if your running PT free or something, thats not going to work either. You NEED a DAW that can run at least 24 channels or you'll get pretty stuck.
Have a look into Reaper, its cheap and good, you can look into upgrading at a later time if you like the whole production thing.

Hi there,
I would have to agree with floyd741. It is more important that you gain an understanding of music and your software rather than worry what equipment you need. Saying that you have everything you need to start making tracks.
So i would suggest that you start to learn music theory and your software. I would personally recommend the Point Blank online music course in Trance that you might find interesting. Take a look:

This is most likely the most effective method to develop your learning but not the only method. I'm sure other forum members will offer you other alternatives.

Don't know about most effective. Definately most expensive.
