both things would have a similar pronunciation, both have some sense too but i think you're right with digital punk , specially because it does not sound like a question

If you're using Ableton, record your voice than load up the stock vocoder. Than, use any synth as your carrier. I use Predator and just skip through the hundreds of presets 'til I find one that I like. There's a few that sound very similar, you just gotta tweek them to get them to your liking.
I also program some sort of midi pattern into the clip that's using Predator. That gives it some variation. You can, if you wanna get creative, play the keyboard real time and get some cool effects.
