Unhappy [PROBLEM] Putting Labels on CDR's????

I recently bought a program to design and print cd labels, it is made by Broderbund, but the program is irrelevant to the question. Anyways, I seem to be having a problem with my cd player reading the cd after I put on the label. I know its the label because I played it w/o and it worked fine, I then proceeded to test it with the label on, and skipping occurred. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what the hell can I do about it?

peace,

Steve

Make sure the label is absolutely in the middle of the disc - if it's not in the middle the weight balance of the disc goes wrong and it starts spinning out of synch.

This may lead to pretty nasty things if the disc is being used in high speed (ie. computer CD-Rom) players.

Yeah I have noticed a long time ago that using labels on cds may cause them to skip or not even play on certain cd players, especially the older ones, although this is not a usual thing to happen. Only solutuion is to not use a label on your cd or try to find thin ones as some labels are thicker than others and the thicker ones tend to cause this problem. Or you can just stick to top of the line quality cd players that will probably not have any probz as long as they are cd-r compatible.

CD readers read the CD data with the received reflexion of the sent laser. When u put on a paper or write anything on it with dark color, u slightly reduce the reflexive property of that area of the disc, and that sometimes is enough to cause errors on some very sensitive CD readers. Avoid to use them or keep it to a minimum.
Use a special pilot pen for this, and only the enough for u to identify the CD

Well, heres my deal, I want to start giving out my CD's to some club owners so I can start to spin somewhere, and I want to make it look as professional as possible, so should I just make a nice cover for the case and write on the CD??? What are some suggestions? Do owners/managers really care??

peace,

Steve
