I've been wondering this myself... they look like a good deal, and SOS gave the older (mk1) model a good review if I remember correctly.

Sounds like a very good review to me... plus SOS seems to really know what they are doing. I think I may get them once I get a laptop (mac or pc, this is driving me nuts), and an audio interface.

I'd rather have more bass than too little. As long as you get used to it, you (should) be able to translate your mixes easily.
$1000 US is ridiculous... what kind of taxes do you have to pay when importing stuff? Do you know what shipping is like from North America?
Also, have you looked at the *new* m-audio monitors? Do they fall into this price range? Have you read any reviews?

I don't like using headphones. I have a habbit of turning them up too loud, and with a pair of hd-25s, that becomes quite hazzardous after a while.
I can get the alesis monitors for US$500 at the moment. I think after shipping and insurence from the states, it would be about the same.
Everything over here is expensive as hell. I was having a look at the steinberg Houston controller. aus$4,000 retail in aus, while it's retail is supposed to be around aus$1,900 everywhere else, and once you start buying from overseas, you run into all sorts of power problems, and cos these speakers are active, it would happen here too.

and possibly the Behringer Truth B2031 if your budget is alittle lower. (800US)
If you are going to buy monitors, you might as well spring for a decent pair. If you decide to buy a low end monitor, you would be better off getting a high-end studio monitor headphone (beyer dt770). |
the dt770 is crap for use as a monitor. great for bassheads, crap for monitoring.
get some etys.
