What you're after is probably a low-passed synth with the filter getting opened up.

put the synth u want to be muffled into a seperate FX channel, put a filter on that channel, set an automation pattern to increase on the cuttoff on the filter.
or set an automation pattern on the actual cutoff in the synth itself.

As stated above, it's easy to achieve in any kind of studio environment. What we're talking about is automated cutoff fading "up"/a low pass filter fading "out". It's been one of the fundamental ideas of trance for ages, and you can do it in FLP e.g. by using an FX called "Fruity Fast LP", which has cutoff as an option. Use "Edit Event" for your selected pattern and there you can set how the cutoff values will progress during your pattern. Remember to have the instrument of your choise assigned to that FX-channel.
