Terratec dmx 6 fire crackling noise

So, this is my last attempt before I'm selling this piece of crap.
What I'm trying to do is sample the kickass drum sounds of my sh-32 to .wavs on my harddisk but whatever I try there are annoying crackles in it. It's pretty much the same as an old vinyl record.

this is the cable setup :
-sh-32 audio jack > promix 01 xlr
-promix 01 s/p dif out > terratec dmx 6 fire s/p dif in for recording (muted on the control panel to avoid loops)
-6fire s/pdif out > promix 01 s/pdif in for playback

I've tried really everything, setting 6fire as master clock, promix as master clock, both 44khz, both 48 khz.

Here and here is how it sounds and
this is what it looks like

Any ideas before I search the largest hammer we have and hit it 1000 times?

What's your latency set at? It sounds like the crackling that happens with setting your latency lowing than your card can handle.

Hope we can fix this!

I did try that too. I went as high as 512 samples.. so considering I can record a full automated song playing hard and softsynths, recording the mixer output at my soundcard input again without any problems at 256 samples this can't be the problem.

In case somebody asks, yes the latest drivers (5.40) are installed

A strange thing is that recordings in logic are perfect but I want to record in sound forge, it's much better for this purpose as the vu-meters are very important to get the best signal/noise ratio.

So apparantly I'm not the only one having this annoying problem. I hope dj thy reads this thing, I think he had the same soundcard.

Have you contacted Terratec for any sort of help?

Or are they as useless as Iomega in that department?

I'll look into this when I have more time.

It's a long time ago since I used soundforge (version 6, does the newer version support Asio or WDM already, I haven't much followed the newer versions?). All the other programs I use (Wavelab, Samplitude, Cubase SX2) don't have clicks, though. So either I believe it's a problem with Soundforge or a driver problem.

If it's ASIO, try recording at the highest samples/buffer you can select, to make sure it's as relaxed as possible. If it's still clicking, it's definately not that part that is acting up.

Otherwise, try using another driver if you have the possibility (if WDM is a choice, use that instead, works a charm in Samplitude for example, MME as very last option).

If you want to make sure it's not the Terratec ASIO driver acting up.

I'll try to get the same version of Soundforge as you have, and I'll see what I can come up with (if it's a matter of Vu Meters, Wavelab's meters are even more useful ).
