back/neck problems vs production

do you guys get back/neck pains after long period of computer use? It is getting worse for me and it's almost to the point that I don't want to sit at a computer. Anyone experience that?
I workout, play tennis, run, stretch but still get these pains. It sucks. Maybe if I setup my computer station so I can stand, having monitor at an eye level? That might help.

I get tired eyes more than anything and ass blisters from long periods in the chair. Your body learns to adapt to the environment and stresses put upon it.....my righthand is slowly morphing into a mouse

I used to suffer from alot of headpain when I had a CRT monitor, that was until I ugraded to a TFT screen. I highly recommend a TFT screen as they produce almost no radiation.

Well, that's your problem right there, you shouldn't be spending time on sports, that's just silly, you should be working on your computer-sitting endurance skills, sitting in front of the computer for at least 9 hours a day.... I'm actually very good at it, I'm in very good practice

But anyways, that sucks, but I've been in school for the past 13 years now and still going, and when I'm not in school in working in my computer, so my back and neck are pretty used to it... Too bad yours is bad Try getting a new chair and sitting high up, that might help.

Some people simply can't sit at computers for long periods of time. Maybe you're one of them.

Have you checked your seating posture and ergonomics? They could be causing a problem....

I'm a massage therapist and I recomend one of those, I'm mobile but you will have to pay my expenses to get to where'ver your from... after that its only $30/hour

-----------
real advice: STRETCH... make a habbit to get up every 1-2 hours during production/computer use/sitting in a chair, and stretch. it will give you time to reflect on what your doing and hopefully cure you of your back problems. also one exercise you can try is placing your back flat against a strait wall while standing and trying to get as much as possible of your back touching the wall... stand up straight and place your arms flat palms on the wall, and feet shoulder width apart, then wiggle while you try to get as much (as you can feel) of your back on the wall... do this 1-2daily for 1-2minutes and all your back problems will start to disapear...

hope this helps.

iloop: you should seriously write a tutorial about this...and someone should put it to the tutorial master list
seriously...

but anyway I think that 75% of us get more eye problems than back pains or neckpains :-/

I saw my physo recently after a whiplash injury and mentioned that I got back ache during my time on the computer. He suggested - after he bounced all over my back that I should rest for 10 mins every 30 mins I worked at the computer. He mention that it would benefit your eyes and brain activity preventing tiredness and eye soreness. I ache in my lower back badly but I have found sitting right back in your chair helps because this supports the natural curve of the spine.

that standing position just does not look comfortable to me, that's a sure way of getting varicose veins I would rather be sitting for 6-8 hours than standing
