JP8000 banks resetting

So on my JP8000, I've got all 3 Vengeance Soundsets on it. The performance patches (Vol.3) load fine, and stay in the synth. However, The user patchs (Vol.1+2) always reset after a few days. I'd imagine that the battery needs to be replaced, but wouldn't all the banks in the synth reset and not just the user patches?

Hey. I'd have to look at the manual but most likely the user patches are stored in volatile ram whereas the 'performance' patch section is stored in some type of non-volatile flashram where it stays regardless of power (like a thumbdrive). Just a guess but check the manual for the info. It should give the types of storage in there as well as instructions on replacing the battery (as well as the number for the battery).

Cheers,
Zac

I never save my patches on synths. I usually just load up the one I want when I need it to record.

The manual doesn't say anything about replacing the memory battery (I couldn't find anything anyway) - best bet is to find a service manual.

A friend of mine from norway had some problems with his jp... he sent it to roland and the fixed the problem for free. except for shipment costs that is.

i dunno... it's not really a serious problem, because i can just reload the patches whenever i need to use them and once i record the audio, it doesn't matter. it'd just be nice if those patches could stay on there all the time.

Common problem, just wip off the back cover and replace the tiny flat battery with a new one.
