BT's Laptop Symphony (Review)
Last friday i went to BT's concert named "Laptop Symphony" at Mexico City. I was totally thrilled because he is one of my favorite artists, and as a producer i was curious about the gear he will be using. To my surprise the equipment was very limited: a powerbook and the m-audio keyboard-controller. By the images from the live camera i can tell that he was running ableton-live. It was a really nice 2 hours gig, most of it was live-improvise.
Tracklist of known songs:
-Goodspeed
-Dreaming (the crowd sang along this one)
-Flaming June (most up-lifting)
-Sonambulist/Simply Being Loved
-The Force Of Gravity
-Love Comes Again (one of the 2 most danced)
-Mercury And Solace (one of the 2 most danced)
I did recognize samples from Never Gonna Come Back Down and Paris in the improvised part. What i never expected was hear live-remixes, which really surprised the audience, to name a few: Deep Dish's "Flashdance", Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (this one made the crowd go crazy) and Coldplay's "Let's Talk". After BT played a guy from his crew started to play, no one mentioned the name of the guy, but he did a nice session of progressive and breakbeat plus another live remix: Michael Jackson's "Bad".
i'm impressed about all that he did just with the laptop.
i totally recomend it!
