midi keyboards

hello i am loking for a keyboard. i have done a search loking for what is the best keyboard and all i could find was people looking for cheap keyboards. i have about 800 to a 1000 U.S. to spend.

this is what i would be using it for. to key me records. and also on my computer with reason program.

i just want some thing that will keep it sound and the keys to stay smooth and solid. i see that korg has keyboards that are nice but m-audio also looks nice. i am not looking for the cheapest nor the most expensive. what is some feedback that you guys have. thanks guys

Wowzers, wtf would anyone need a $1000 midi controller for?

Either spend $200 - $300 on one and put the rest of the money to good use elsewhere, or buy a hardware synth with it.

When I get more money to go in debt with. That's going into my studio.

It's hot. Best thing about it... you click on a vst in cubase, or an instrument in reason, and it auto-maps all the knobs and sliders to control different aspects of your virtual synth. It also has banks of other hardware synths in it as well that you can load.

And of course, you can use good old midi learn.

It's well worth the 400 bones. I'm going to get the 37 key version which is 500 bones, but OMG *fap*

You'd need to identify some requirements. Do you need 25,37,49,61,76 or 88 keys? Do you need them to be weighted action or synth action? Do you need sliders, knobs or touchpads? Do you need channel aftertouch? Will you be attaching switches or pedals? Do you need poly aftertouch (for CS80V or similar)? Do you need it to also be a synth or audio interface? Do you need it to be usb powered for portability? Let me know, I'd be happy to make some recommendations.

^ thats the thread i made just awhile ago about the SL61 i got. Nothing on the market can even come close or compare to this keyboard. Well worth the money i paid for it. It adds the joy of playing vsts i just couldn't experience with the m-audio radium.

A novation X station 49 or 61 would also be good.

High quality VA synth, no vocoder or drum maps though
Audio and midi interface
Velocity and aftertouch keyboard
Onboard effects
