Arrangement Tutorial

Hey everyone just wanted to say that it's almost finished I'm adding the effects part of production right now and making all the screenshots. Expect it in the next few hours.

The arrangement tutorial will include the following subjects:

1. Full arrangement of a typical trance track
2. Adding of "cliche" trance elements
3. Very simple drum programming (drum loop and simple driving percs)
4. Usage of send tracks and what effects to add to them
5. Brief overview of different types of effects to add to instruments

If you have anything else you would like me to add quickly, leave a reply. I will create other tutorials if wanted just post a subject and I will lay down my knowledge on the subject.

Just curious as to what your sequencer of choice is going to be for the tutorial, though I know the basic principles will still apply.

It will be based in FL Studio 6. Of course the basics apply to all sequencers only difference is the layout.

Yeah I'm definitely interested Corteoz. Leave me a msg on msn or aim.

Edit:

jey: This is an arrangement tutorial so I feel that eqing fits more into the mixdown process vs. the actual arrangement part of production. If Corteoz would like though, we could both work on an eqing part of production along with the rest of the mixdown process? PM me if you guys would be interested in that part of production and I could try helping you out along with Corteoz. The mixdown process I really am just getting much better at so I'm no professional at that yet.

About instruments in the stereo field, I guess I could attempt at writing that part although I don't feel my tracks "surround" the listener all that great. I've been working really hard on it and I have some ideas, but I don't feel I have great enough knowledge to help you out THAT well with that part.

I think if you could create or add a build tutorial in addition to your arrangment tutorial this would be real helpful.

a lot of guys dont know how to do this:

for example start with one melody then add new elements on top of it and morph new elements in and out into sub melodies ,until you get to the main riff.

without loosing the theme of the track.

you see this a lot in the intro or breakdown of tracks.

I would really love to read about that.. making builds and drops and keeping the energy level in the track without letting it die out.. My tracks have Step 1, 2 , 3. but are missing 4, 5 in the energy level in my opinion..

Is it possible i can see what you have already done?

best thing to do is start with a sub melody or arp ,then build on top of it staying in the same scale ,adding more melodies,fx ,etc

hopefully Lindo can post something soon im not real good writing tutorials but i know drops and breakdowns are just as important as melodies.
