Anyone tried this plugin yet? I have been looking for something that would allow me to add vinyl-sounding pops to music, as opposed to taking them away. This seems to be the only plugin out there (at least that I could find) that claims to be able to do such a thing. It also can apparently add other "sonic textures" to music files.

Would love a quikc review, or to hear others' thoughts. Sometimes that dirty old vinyl sound only hurts your ears, but sometimes its just the ticket

There are definitely songs and muzak that I think would benefit from sounding as though its playing off a beat up vinyl. It adds something to the song in the way that other effects do in their own particular way. Im not really speaking about trance here in particular or at all, but it could be a nice option to break out every once in awhile.

The only way Ive thought to be able to do in this the past is to record the "blank" part of a record with its pops then lay that over, but the sound never really sounded good to me...

Say you've got a guitar sample, you want to make it sound as though it came off an old disco vinyl, that's one reason to have something like this around. Lots of producers do this sort of thing, even in trance.

iZotope makes a poor man's version of the Sonitex called Vinyl . It's free and should do most of what you are asking for. It obviously doesn't have the depth of Sonitex but it may suit your purposes nonetheless.
