I've got a really great guitarist I'm working with right now. We're recording primarily acoustic, which is a pain in the ass to get right and then redo several days laters after I've had some times to process (always sounds different). Interested in investing in a midi guitar or guitar-to-midi setup. The former seems to have fewer options, the latter seems to have a wide range of products that all claim to be the best. I'd prefer not attaching a double sided tape piece to my 1500 dollar guitar, but open if it is the only good solution.

Has anyone worked with a midi guitar - are there any worth the
investment (probably looking at less than an extra 1500 bucks or so).

Or is a guitar-to-mid rig the best way to go? Just plug in an electric (and attach some crap to my guitar) and get a signal.

Any experience with these, or any suggestions - even resources to investigate further. Seems to be limited info on this out there on the web (one page looked like id' be resourceful, but most of the links were broken).

Depending on what guitar you have, and whether you have a pickguard on it already, I think Roland makes replacement pickguards that have the sensor bar built in. Just replace the pickguard and you're good to go. That way you're not modifying or harming your guitar. Not TOO certain on how that works, but worth asking about or checking out.
