perkussion is very hard to mix, it comes out too sharp and annying.
wat compreson settings should be set generally and where should I cut on open hats/closed hats. must i roll off frequencies too ?
what levels should i keep too, i notice on most producers, theres plenty percussion in the mix, but it's not sharp and the specrumm is full ????

Don't compress if you don't know how. It will only make your mix worse.
Compression is something you just have to know. There are no standard settings. Look for tutorials on compression.

From my experience, I've solved "sharpness" with eq and volume. Generally it has been too high and too loud.
