Hmm...

I would keep the Bpm between 127-133.
Try to use Warm basses , soft subbases or some Real Electric Bass samples.
Same goes for the other sounds , use as much real instruments as u can (guitars , rhodes , sax, piano)

Try to make lots of patterns with different perccusion samples.
Use as many different rythm patterns u can.

Try adding lots of pads and stuff like that too.

yes the bpm are usually around 130 b/c progressive music have a lot goin on at a given time and you definitely dont want it to sound all mashed up and rushed.

basslines usually do not follow a chord progression as most trance tunes but rather maintain the same note for the entire track

use mainly electrinic sounds and A LOT of percussion, riffs, sound effects to create a rythm and intensity on the track

yes thats what i meant but again you can always experiment and do what you feel is good.

e.g: you could use the C note for bassline but give it some sort of rythm rather than the obvious off-note bassline. To make it more interesting you could layer up notes and sounds and put it through some filter/eq effects or even make a rythm with two or more notes for the bassline.

Stupid question but I gotta ask it... What is "the obvious off-note bassline"???

I wouldn�t go with that bassline if I was gonna create a Progressive House track.
Cuz there�s no Groove in that bassline.
U have to make it Groovy.

Robstar...I already did bassline whit longer and shorter notes. I just didn't know if that kind of basslines are used in progressive house.But after you said I should try that, I think it is good for progressive house

In my opinion prog house has very distinct percussion.. much different than trance., alot more toms. and bongos if ur going for more of a tribal sound. Then u gotta have those crazy bass fx, like long phasing in and out bass notes. No leads (or hardly any) and lots of crazy fx and other type noises. I dont really find much melody in progressive house, emphasis is placed more on the beats.

what I meant by layering is use two different bass sounds to get something else that sounds more interesting/or maybe create a rythm like two instruments being played togethar. You were partly right with the example you showed in your previous post.

Off note bassline is just the simple
k---k---k--- <-Kicks
--b---b---b <-bass C4
--B---B---B <- bass C3

instead try messing the bass notes around to get something groovy/rythmic
k---k---k---k <-Kicks
-b-b--bb-b-b- <-bass C4
B-----B-B---- <- bass C3

also if you do use leads make sure that they do not drown out your basslines/percussions etc which are considered more important in progressive music. Try and get a nice and groovy bassline first. you can then slowly build the percussion, riffs, effects etc around it.

Make sure you use reverb (but carefully so you dont muddy up the the track) on certain instruments on any given time. this will fill up the empty spaces on ur track and make it sound tight at the same time create space. Make good use of effects...reverbs, delays, chorus, filters

again.. there are no boundaries to making music. these are just my 2 cents
