Uh, no. Sylenth1 is not even close to a Virus. One look at the spec sheets for each synth will show you that. Sylenth1 is a very simple and very limited software synth relative to almost every soft synth in its price range and, especially, when compared to a Virus. It's strength is that it is a very simple synth, but sounds good and has good trance presets.
Now, before you Sylenth1 fanboys get your panties in a bunch, re-read the OP's question. He is asking which synth is "similar" to a Virus. Sylenth1 is not it. Aside from obviously being hardware, a Virus is a much more advanced synth in terms of its synthesis capabilities (e.g., subtractive, FM, granular, wavetable), available waveforms, available filter types, modulation capabilities, etc. It's a powerhouse synth by almost any measure and all those additional features and specs give it sonic capabilities that many other synths (especially Sylenth1) can't touch. That's why you're not going to find too many software synths that are similar to a Virus. About the closest ones I can think to matching some of these capabilities are Gladiator 2 and Z3TA+, but even they have some pretty substantial differences and have some features/specs that the Virus doesn't have.
Of course, there's always the PowerCore version of the Virus (although it does require the PCI hardware).
