Studiorta Creation Station, can a JP8080 fit?

I'm planning on buying one but I have a JP8080 I need to fit into the 4U rack, is there a gap at the bottom that it could extend down into? Or is there a way it could stick out on the table and lean back into the rack plate and not be too untidy?

I've gotten my Nord Rack 2x and 3 as well as my Prophet 08 to fit. The Prophet 08 rack has a recessed back panel, so it fit fine. My Nord 3 required me to drop it down a space and extend into the gap at the bottom as you mentioned. It doesn't look bad at all IMO. The other alternative is to buy right-angle plugs, but I had no luck finding anyone who had right-angle MIDI cables in stock.

edit: I just realized that the JP-8080 is a 6U, whereas the Nord 3 is spec'ed as a 5U, which fits fine but takes up pretty much all the available space. I also read that the JP-8080 has a pretty deeply recessed back panel, so that's good. Also, the Creation Station racks are angled slightly forward, which means that the top/back of your synths will be pointing slightly downward, giving you more space in back/top meaning that you may be able to mount the JP-8080 all the way to the top (whereas I had to drop my Nord 3 down one rack space because it doesn't have much recession in the back). I'd still guess that it's going to be a pretty tight squeeze to get a 6U synth into a 4U+bottom gap space, though. Hopefully I explained all that clearly.

Where's Alanzo? He also has a Creation Station and I believe that he owned a JP-8080 at one time.

I think the JP8080 was 5HE if i dont remember wrong. Its big as hell. Clavias are like 3,5 or whateverm its the only thing i have against clavia is that the power and venting + cables is behind there sticking up not making it fit into a rack properly. It should have done like JP8080 did with power and cables.

I've got the creation station. With a JP8080, you'll probably have to do the same I did with my Andromeda :

All I have is a piece of $3 poster board I got from a local arts and crafts store, put it uner the Andromeda to keep it in place and put my keyboard/mouse on the part that sticks out. Otherwise, the andromeda takes up the entire desktop with only about 8inches left on the left and right.

lol great idea to extend the deskspace!

It's actually the rack JP8080 I've got, but according to
cryophonik and palm it seems that the space below the side racks have enough room for the 5/6u JP to extend down and fit on the rack.

Oh, yeah, there's probably room for something a bit bigger than 4U... I wouldn't go past 5, though.

oh i was hoping even if it didn't fit exactly that I could maybe have the unit out at the bottom and leaning back into the rack and maybe make a wooden wedge to neaten it a bit

No clue what you're talking about. It'll probably fit, though. There's a decent amount of room underneath a 4U rack, but not a *whole* lot since they're tilted up, the backs will hit the desk. You could always just get 3 equal width pieces of wood to raise the rack a bit.

yeah sorry can really get the words down to explain. What I meant basically just put the JP upright on the desk but leaning back into the rack if there wasn't enough room to mount flush on the 4u rack ears.

But see what you mean about doing and I could def do that as I know someone who makes furniture that I could get some quality wood from.

Cheers all, can't wait to be all setup properly

The quick answer to your questions is No.

I had the Creation Station and the JP8080, and the 8080 would not fit in the rack when I tried it. The 8080 is 6U and the rack only allows 4U on each side. Even with the extra gaps above and below the rack space in the Creation Station, the JP8080 was still too big.
