Need production feedback hope you dont all mind - Now with soundcloud link

Youtube link to my song

hi hope you dont mind as this is not promotion thread but this is actually not finished and i am not trying to promote it.

I have hit a brick wall i have all the melodic and rythmic ideas so the creative side is finished at least for now

My problem is the mix I will be mixing all day and I will think ok i got it but then i come back in the morning ie today and its all off. I know this is proably my ears ajusting etc but i really thought i had it nailed yesterday.

Any feeds on the mix would be great thanks

Another thing is the sounds this is the first one where I have tried to self create a lot of the sounds. All the sweeps the plucks and the bass are mine some made on microkorg others in v station.

Do they sound amaturish? i dont think so but i am biased

Thanks

Processing a highly structured and complex pattern of sensory input as a unified percept of "music" is probably one of the most elaborate features of the human brain.....understanding how music is perceived and how it may elicit intense sensations is far from being understood.

Nice tune.

The only thing i would change is the snare at 1.24, not to keen on it, could be a bit louder too. imo

I would also bring in the snare again at 3.57.

Lovin the funky bassline, sounds good to me.

Cant fault the rest of it, mint track.

thanks I agree on the snare being too low. could you be more specific because I tried to be a bit different on the snare for example its actually a snare on beats 2 and 4 as normal and a clap on beats 2 and 4 but 1 tick behind so it happens early.

is it no good or just too quiet did you notice the groove?

I think your perc in general is too quiet. I also think you'd benefit from a lead higher in frequency. The current one plays second fiddle to the bass the whole time it seems.

The snare/clap combo just dont sound snappy enough for me.
Sounds more like a ride sample.

I didnt notice the groove before, but sounds good to me.

Exactly what i need comments like this,,, I wanted to have the big bass sound but I think your right it does play second fiddle which is not the role of a lead instrument...thanks ill definatley consider that.

The percussion is quiet but it was deliberate i was trying to find a balance where nothing sounded too loud but I might have gone overkill

hmm its not compressed at the moment and i did set it low in the mix i was trying to not let it take over. Listening back now and it is too quiet and a compressor would give a bit of a more snappy feel I think

thanks guys definatley give me some direction at least

thanks owien but i am from the midlands not the south so maybe confusin me with someone.

Did you think the mix was ok I have had someone come on telling me the pluck is not great and the pad is too thin.

thats the problem isnt it someone says that and you begin to hear it and before you know it you have tinkered too much!
