My thoughts exactly. Even an outstanding plugin would usually retail for $200+, at least. I'll be interested in seeing how this is supposed to work.

Not a bad idea really. I love it that they are finally waking up to what record offered and offering stuff based on that principle. All knobs all faders available at all times.
No more unnecessary menu diving for simple functions like making use of utility eqs and compressors.

Really all these console companies are going digital which sucks for the console industry.
But to justify charging somebody 100k for a console and a digital one that is they spend a lot and I mean a lot of money on the best software developers to develop summing algorhythms for their board.
Trouble is that anybody with a 50.000-150.000 budget for a console usually is smart enough to buy analog so needless to say these consoles are not flying off the shelves with a price tag like that.
Sonys legendary oxford console that came out in the late 90s with a price tag of half a million dollars had some of the best algos ever. Nobody wanted to buy it at that price range. I saw it on ebay a month ago CBS was selling theirs for $20.000! Like holy shit 20k for an oxford!
So they sold the algos to sonnox. (Buy the way if you want one eq and one compressor to end your quest for eq and compression in the box find the two sonnox plug-ins and buy them.)

So to tap into the home market and make the real money by selling in volume and make good use of what they already have developed they come up with products like this and give them names like ''Super Awesome Analog Reproduction TM'' Or ''Advanced One Of A Kind Audio Simulation Technology TM''.
Trouble is that mother******s love to be taken advantage of and buy near-fields for 6k and monster cables at $250 a pop. So people think that if they spend $75 for a product ''there has to be some sort of a catch'' ''it must not be good enough'' and they ain't gonna buy it till the mother****** in mix magazine gets a fat check to tell them how great this is, but the fact of the matter is it would be great for somebody using fruity loops or ableton live who isn't happy with the summing algos and wants to bounce down separate tracks in audio and do the final mixdown in that. I have not doubt that it will sound a bit better
