Challenge: make a 1 minute track WITHOUT using your ears.
This should be interesting.
The idea is to turn off your speakers/monitors/headphones, and go in "blind". Make a track that is just one minute long using only your previous experiences as a guide.
Rules:
-No fixes, once exported track is final.
-All samples are random, no re-using sounds from previous tracks.
-No presets, synthesize your own sounds. This goes for effects and filters too.
-ROMPLERS - forbidden (Nexus, Piano/real strings/etc-specialized VSTi not allowed)
-No loops.
This will be tough for those of us who are inexperienced at synthesis.
Sample-shooting: well, good luck
Levels - you can ofc use visual monitoring for this.
Tip for uploading: since you definitely don't want to share this with the world, on Soundcloud use the "private" feature and then embed it here so only people in this thread can hear it.

Holy shit that was a trip
I am actually surprised how good the kick and the bassline sound.
That weird brrmmmm sound that shows up at some intervals was supposed to be a pad. Needless to say I failed miserably
This just shows how much I struggle with synthesis still.
Also, way too much reverb on the snares at the end
It's your turn, come on!

I'm not sure how long this was supposed to take but I jotted down a few things, added some noise, changed up the drum pattern, put in a modulated bass at the drop, and threw in an arpeggiator. I still haven't listened to it sooooooo.. lord help us =)

Yeah probably not. Just a reminder that the most important thing for making music is your ears
As it's not a contest I didn't bother to spend much time on it (which would be pointless anyway when you can't hear what you're doing). Anyway here's what I made:
