Cool Need some advice!

Hey guys and gals, I've been working in FL studio on and off for about 3 years and am thinking of getting into Ableton. Ideally I want to master both DAW's. Do you think this is a poor usage of time as both are complex programs in their own right? Or would it benefit me in the long run to use both, I was thinking of using Re-wire to use fl studio 10 as a VST in Ableton once I get it. Cheers to all fellow producers/DJ's. Hope to hear soon, thanks!

you would be wasting about 20 hours max. All daws are more or less the same.

ReWire is more useful for running two DAW's concurrently rather than sequencing from one DAW to control VST's in another. Besides, most if not all of the VST's you're using in FL should be compatible in Ableton (unless FL is like Reason?). I'm not saying you shouldn't slave FL to Ableton if FL has some feature you're not getting with Ableton. I just don't think ReWire works the way you think it does - although I could be wrong as it's been a while since I've used it.

Yea, you either rewire it or use it as a vst, one or the other, and if your gonna do Live and Fl you are better off using Fl as a vst in Live, then everything gets saved from one daw, Live. And it's just easier to work with IMO. I think Fl does have a nicer piano roll too.

It's whatever. I just picked up producing again and opted to try Ableton. The learning curve wasn't too bad.
