tannoy reveal 601a is best allround imo for the cost of nothing, not that detailed, not that flat but pretty nice to listen to, decent power and bass, and no surprices. active hifi if you will. if smaller room you can use 501a instead. the great thing about these are the front-directed bassport resulting you probably have less problems with the bass if placed close to a wall.

601A's are exceptionally detailed for the money. Nothing touches them.

Your best bet is to go to a music store that demos a few pairs and listen for yourself. Find the one you like most, and buy that one or the smaller model if the demo pair is to expensive.

I've been thinking of getting the Tannoy 501a, good reviews across the board and good price, but i came across 2 people who claimed these are really weak at the low end, they said you can't get a good mix for your kicks\baselines with these.

Any truth to that? anything better on that price range?
