Analog or virtual analog? You're not going to find an analog synth that is also a rompler at any price - they just don't exist. If you're talking virtual analog/rompler, you could try to find a secondhand Kurzweil PC-series in that price range - they have excellent strings and pianos as well as the VAST synthesis engine, which is very deep, but not intuitive or user-friendly.

There are also the 'big three' workstation synths that have come in a myriad varieties over the last couple of decades.

Also, what you mean by USB compatible? Some have way more USB functionality than others.
