techniques or tricks for good buildups, drum rolls?

anyone have any ? I'd like to know how alot of the really nice builds/drum rolls are created.. any idea's?

just play around til you get some thing that will fit in with the rest of your track! may take a while til you get the kind of snare roll but its worth it in the end! i usually use a 32 beat roll so it "builds" into the song more than just a quick build!

i'm using quick build ups with some windy effect in the background. it's nice when you're creating some energy track. tryed to get that PvDish strings build up but didn't get it. any tips?

anyways always find a good snare which you should eq. also check out track named Pulsedriver-The Dark Side of Life(JamX & De Leons Dumonde Mix). that track stayed in my memory as one with very looong buildup (cca 2 min .

umm try and change the build up and play around with it, so it wont be only a long boring one..

Use white noide with lots of reverb and delay and cane the low pass filter.
