Forgot how many times i've left clubs & had ringing in my hears or dullness & done nothing about it

Clubbers face hearing loss: survey

I'm positive my hearing is damaged to some point, but thankfully not too badly.

I'm hoping to talk my mother into helping my chip in for my birthday in a few weeks for a pair of custom made/fitted earplugs (they're about $400) that i can also wear in my headphones when DJing. Been meaning to get around to it for ages and probably in the last few months i've noticed a slight ringing in my ears still around a Wednesday/Thursday night, not good.

yeah I have def thought about investing in a set just for going to gigs, after armin my ears were a bit rooted when laying in bed I could hear people talking..... lol..

Armin had a WIKKID set in his ears little blue ones, they looked custom etc im sure they would be very expensive but I guess a DJ's ears are pretty damn important!

I have genetically bad hearing and am too paranoid not to wear ear plugs out. I might get some nifty ones (like the moulded type) later on but free ones I scam from work that are daggy yellow do the job just fine.

Fuck though, they are so good, worth every cent. I have been wearing them for around 6 months now, both as a DJ and a clubber, and noticed a huge difference.

After Armin van Buuren, I was the only person out of the ten I went with that didn't have ringing in my ears for a few days after.

When DJing, there is a barely noticeable drop in bass, but otherwise, sound quality is the same.

Admittedly, they can irritate you ears a little bit, but not so much so that it becomes part of your night. After a few drinks (or pills), you literally forget that they are in until you get home.

Can't recommend them highly enough.

You don't look like too much of a dickhead wearing them either, because they barely protrude from your ears.

Ah ok, i thought they were more like $350ish, but thought they could have been more. I made enquiries about a month ago but needed to get some funds together first. Where did you get them from? They are custom fitted to your ear canal yeah?

Custom fitted, yes.

They reduce all sound by -25dB.

You can hear people speaking at normal volume in a quiet room when you have them in.

I got them at some place in Prahran. Sorry, had a look but couldn't find the name. It was close to the corner of Chapel and Toorak Rd, in a side street, maybe Cromwell or Surrey?

You bloody need ear plugs at F4 too Dean, they always have the system cranked way too high. I reckon F4, Room and Metro are the loudest clubs I've ever been to.

i've seen lots of people use them in the past and i once tried the foam, but honestly, cbf, ive seen people use them once or twice and then just forget, i take comfort in the fact those old djs who have been doing it for ages can still hear

Did you have any DJs in mind?

All the times I've ever heard hearing loss mentioned to big name DJs, they say:

a) They have it badly already.

b) It's creeping up on them, and they're worried.

c) They couldn't give a shit because they wear plugs.

I've seen a few of the big names recently using plugs actually.
