What connections are we all on - please vote
Evening all, in light of having to download many sets for the upcoming AU.TA Mixing Competition (tm)(c), what connections are we all on? Because if the majority of us are on wee little modems, the contestants should record no longer than a CD-length mix, and should encode it at 128kbps. If you really do care about wether the mix is 128kbps instead of 192kbps quality, you really needa get out more heheh. And dont worry about being marked down cos of 128kbps quality, as everyone who enters will be on the same level. So vote up ppl
Ciao

Muhahahaha 10240k (10Mbit) connection for me
And please, could we make it at least 160kbps. 128 is just too poor IMO.

man even the modems we dial into are 28.8k!! so if we got 56 it wouldn't make a difference! oh well, its free, unlimited, un-restricted, no disconnections, dont even have to pay for the phone line.... i can live with it
and with the shitty old school little sound blaster speakers we have here the bit rate isnt that important!
i've been thwarted at every turn in my quest for broadband...

Damn dowlz, didn't know that kinda connection existed in Australia..hahahah
How about 128kbps using MP3PRO.. meaning if you use the mp3PRO codec, you'll have superduper quality, but in a smaller filesize

It's called the University of Adelaide's backbone connection to the internet. I think the backbone is at least a gigabit but unfortunately our college only has a 10mbit microwave connection to the Uni.

Pointy - consider that at any given moment, probably a hundred or so people are using part of that bandwidth...
