unfortunately I missed Oakie last nite but heard he played very trancey. Dont know what he played but my mate who is a big fan was much disappointed and said it was absolutely jam packed. Anyway just a second hand report, thats the only feedback so far.

I just came back from seeing Oakenfold @ Greenwood Plaza.. and despite what some people say.. he is still brilliant. His style may have changed from 3 years ago (then again whos doesn't?) but it was still PERFECTO. He played a very progressive set, some nice breaks, something Dave Seaman would be proud of. Mixing was awesome though PVD is still the winner in this department.. and the track selection was tops!

The crowd was happily singing along to southern sun and the U2 track. Awesome night. Like stipsy said... hes still the boss. I totally love the stuff hes playing now. Not to many anthems but still knows how to keep a crowd happy.

haha that was mad! i really liked it! but first off i just have to say if that fucking wanker who kept elbowing and pushing me and stipsy is reading this, if i see u walking down the street one day u better pray i didn't get out of the wrong side of the bed in the morning!!! fucking hell! . i don't know if he and his mates really wanted our spot, or if he was fucked up on drugs, or if he is just generally fucked up, that has to be just about the most annoying thing i've had to deal with when i've gone out! now i know it was qbh and i expected a lot of people, and a bit of pushing and shoving but this guy takes it to the extreme! it wasn't even as packed as paul van dyk! this guy is standing behind me, with his back turned to me, "dancing" around flailing his arms like they were chains or something and repeatedly elbowing me in the back and pushing me! FFS!!!! WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU????? 3 times i tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention and he just ignored me! it got to a stage where i was just about ready to fucking belt him!!! and that wasn't the worst part! later on stipsy copped it too, and this guy pushed, and i mean pushed, stipsy over into the stage at the front! just elbowed and shoved him over!! stipsy shoved him back and said fucking watch it and i think the guy decided maybe that was enough for now and eased off a little bit, but seriously, what the fuck is up with that????? THE PLACE IS PACKED!! THERE IS NO FUCKING ROOM! JUST STAND WHERE YOU ARE AND FUCKING ENJOY THE FUCKING SHOW!!! if that wasn't enough one of his friends decided to join in with the wankerness and literally force his way between us to stand at the front!! argh!! stipsy and the other TA (sorry i didn't catch your nickname) decided that was it and just moved over so these fuckwits must have decided that was a victory and concentrated their efforts on me, if trying to push me off the step wasn't enough i was about to get this guys attention again when he thought fuck you and just started sucking face with his girl right in front me. i had enough then and decided it wasn't worth it anymore so just moved down to where stipsy was. now at this stage i am thinking this is just about the worst night out i've had and when stipsy said "lets see if this will be the first time i've been kicked out of an event" i was fucking prepared to join in the mayhem if anything started!! (although i did actually say as long as u wait till oaky is over hehe) thankfully, that was the only low point of the night and i can now concentrate on the music, which i thought was excellent

i got in just before 12, i think the guy playing at the time was adam something, dunno, but as i had a headache and was tired and wrecked from 5am and the 21st i was at before qbh i just sat down under the stairs with my head in my hands hehe. mark james came on then and i really enjoyed it, he played some good stuff. 'yet another day' and 'greece 2000' were definite crowd favourites, he also played:

next up was oaky, the man we came to see! and far out, what a character!! stipsy was showing me the poses and stuff leading up to it and fuck it was the funniest shit ive ever seen! it was sooo funny! the way he fiddles with the effects and beat matches, the way he puts his arms up in the breakdowns, its gold jerry, gold!! for the first 20 mins or so he started off with some breakbeat stuff which i thought was ok, but it was better when he got into the progressive and trance. he played some good stuff i thought, i quite liked it, even though some of the mixing wasn't that good, or even non-existent! for about the middle hour i reckon it was peak time madness! everyone went off for southern sun and some crappy breakbeat remix of his 'the prophet' remake, well it was ok in some parts but kinda average in others the rest of the stuff he played i thought was good, i quite enjoyed it! he signed autographs while he was playing too, people just chucked stuff up onto the stage and he walked over and signed it, then went back to the turntables. he was smiling and enjoying himself a lot it seemed, better than pvd i reckon. and fark, the poses lol. it was just classic seeing him go off, sometimes it looked a bit over the top and the same ones over and over but it was just funny some tracks i think he played:

so yeah apart from the wankers at the start it was really good, i enjoyed it a lot. the italian dj didn't show but i dont think i really care hehe. if that means mark james gets 2 hours then it doesn't bother me. should get rid of jason midro and given oaky another hour too i reckon, i thought 2 wasn't enough for him, could have gone longer i mean 1st time in 3 years he's back here or something, u want a fair set length! so yeah it was good stuff, i think it was probably just a bit better than pvd too

yep, was a good night.

we got there about 3.30-4.00pm. security was lax and they had no problems with cameras. we ventured through the different rooms, from the bar to the alfresco area, then to the trance room. caught Nik Fish pumping some nice tunes (unfortunately i don't know any of their names ). we then returned to the front area and soaked up the fading sun with beers in hand.

5pm - we headed back to the perfectoTrance room to check out Jason Midro (a last minute addition to the lineup). All I can say is this guy goes HARD. We then went to the alfresco area and caught the last 40 mins of Mark Dynamix. He dropped a very cool track at the end (anyone know what it was?).

6pm - went back to the Trance room to check out Pee Wee but Midro was still going hard. then we realised that it was pee wee vs midro. it was awesome, especially when pee wee dropped THE THEME !!!! midro just too that and turned the notch even further on the "hard" scale. it was crazy

7.30pm - not wanting to miss out on a spot in the alfresco area we found a spot about 15-20m from the dj box and planted ourselves there. Mark James was tearing it up with some awesome tracks.

8pm - it was time for THE MAN Paul Oakenfold. With a huge welcome from the crowd Oaky hit the decks with some strong progressive beats, mixing up with breaks. the crowd loved it. considering i'm not a fan of oaky (having hardly heard any of his stuff before tonight) i can see why many worship him. really knows how to play to the mood of the crowd. particularly enjoyed his (new?) remix of Southern Sun and 3rd Earth. and yeah some tears and a great crowd sing-a-long when Oaky played "where the streets have no name".

bit disappointed when the crowd was chanting for "one more" at the end of the set (oaky was chanting along too and motioning with his finger!) but the SOS dude just said "as much as we'd like to u know we can't..." so that was it. the end of a great night out.

I am bloody confused!

I thought Oaky was only playing in Melbourne on Saturday night/Sunday morning (4/5 april). When/Where did you sydney guys see him play? Because i know neither Nik Fish nor PeeWee were there for the Melbourne Perfecto show.

Anyway, i was there for the melbourne show at QBH, and i absolutely loved it.

Im not one for naming the styles, but there was plenty of trance to rock the house. Got there at 12.30 to hear Mark James do his set, which had its ups and downs but nontheless enjoyable. One thing i noticed is that Mark didnt even mention/jesture/look at the crowd, even between mixes. Kind of made you feel like you wernt part of his set even though you were 2 metres infront of him (like i was).

Then, about 30 mins before Oakey's set, i look up to the top of the stage (lighting desk?) and guess who is poking his head out and grooving with the crowd - Oakenfold. I think me and the others around me were the first to see him and yelled out and waved and he smiled and waved back.

Anyway, he came out, fully pumped for his set at 2.30 and began rocking the decks straight away with a bit of breakbeat. Perfect mixing and treb/mid/bass mixing, and once it got into the good trance, the whole place was pumped. Oakey played to the crowd, reacted to the crowd, pumped his fists etc and did plenty of 'praying' to the trance gods or whatever during buildups - It really made the crowd go nuts and we all loved it. Definate big song for the night was Southern Sun, although the last 2 songs had the crowd buzzing big time... What a great set

Sound at QBH was bloody good, but Oakey's mixing definatly sounded the best. One thing that i felt let the night down was the lighting. Sure, you had your lasers and moving lights but there was no where near enough strobing, and the big flood lights never went off at the peak of the buildup, but always after (delay) (I might be biased because i used to do theatrical lighting, im sure the ekkie takers wouldnt know the diff!)

Other than that, great night!
