true crime - streets of LA

can somebody who's played this give me a review on it. Looks like a good game, possibly to take over from gta.

I have it for ps2..and i'm desperately trying to trade it or sell it..

GTA is WAYYYY better. The models of the game are nicely done, that I must say (always start with a positive note).

Here are the negative aspects:

* Controls are very lousy, when fighing you can block with holding the thumbstick away from your opponent, often resulting in you running in circles. It's just a matter of luck wether your punches/kicks land or not. Awarded moves are a total bitch to perform, not working.

* handling of the cars sucks very much. In GTA driving was a breeze. In True Crime...you're better off when walking.

* Nick Kang (protagonist of the game) doesn't have any problems with his self-esteem. He'll say something good about himself once every 2 minutes. Very annoying.

* Soundtrack get really boring really fast. Snoop Dogg just doesn't do it for me. I do like rap, I think Def Jam Vendetta is a great game with great songs (also rap)

* Overall graphics...7/10

* shooting system...needs a bit more work.

* Good cop/Bad Cop: nice idea but it's not working like you expect it to work in this game.

If you're a big fan of GTA you could get annoyed with the lame ass copying that True Crime pulls off. If you're gonna do it, do it good or don't do it at all.

Try the game before you buy it. I didn't and made a big mistake..

Indeed, GTA/VC totally kills it.

Well, I rented it and I guess I'm the only one here who has a positive opinion on this game.

The city is VERY large, from Downtown LA to the Hollywood Hills and to the "Venice" district, and a long coastal area with excellent detail. The city is HUGE and takes hours to explore it all, I'd say it's around 6 times the size of Vice City. Handlingwiwse, yes it's not particularly realistic, but neither is Vice City. I found the missions to be quite a lot of fun, and spent a lot of my time indoors on the 3 days I rented it, and am planning to buy it soon.

The missions are pretty standard fare, no better than other games of the type but they're not half bad either.
