CRT is better for gaming, it can handle high FPS better than LCD can, I believe.

CRT still offers the best picture quality...but of course the tradeoff is the huge size.
LCDs for gaming are getting better however. Generally, the lower the response time (in ms), the less "ghosting" effect you will have with games. Anything with less than 5ms, and capable of high resolutions should look beautiful. Refresh rates are also important (measured in mhz). The higher the refresh rate, the less strain on your eyes.
Dell and Samsung brand are great choices. Be prepared to pay up $$ for quality though.

The one thing that people do not think of is native resolution.
All LCDs have a native rez, which they look best at. A CRT is variable, and looks good at all resolutions.
As game requirements change, you will most likely run different games in different resolutions.

^^ true, but to have a CRT capable of the REALLY high res settings, you will need a monitor as big as a small tank

I have my Xbox 360 hooked onto my Gateway 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor via the VGA cable and my PC with the DVI cable. The monitor has an 8ms response time and its pretty good for gaming. The monitor's native resolution is 1440x900 and supports 720p HD when using the Xbox 360.
