Crysis - Warhead

The Next Installment of One of the Highest Rated Games of 2007 Blasts its way onto PCs this Fall

Maximum freedom, maximum explosions and maximum Psycho! Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) and award-winning independent studio Crytek today announced Crysis Warhead® – the parallel story to Crysis, one of the most critically-acclaimed first person shooters and PC games of 2007. Shipping exclusively for the PC this fall, Crysis Warhead is the first title to be developed at Crytek´s Budapest studio, and is built on a new, enhanced and optimized version of Crytek’s CryENGINE® 2 technology.

“We were very pleased with the reception of Crysis from both gamers and media after our launch last year,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO and President of Crytek. “That being said, one of the key principles of our studio is to always raise the bar. With Warhead, we are focusing on refining our storytelling and game performance, while also delivering more of the visually stunning graphics and immersive, free-roaming gameplay everyone loved in Crysis.”

“The best result of a partnership that we can ask for in the EA Partners program is when a world class independent studio like Crytek chooses to continue to work with us,” said David DeMartini, Vice President and Global General Manager, EA Partners. “Crysis was an amazing game and is going to be a blockbuster franchise. We could not be more excited to be working with Crytek to launch another hit with Crysis Warhead this year.”

In Crysis Warhead, players will don the Nanosuit of Sergeant Sykes, also known as ‘Psycho’, one of the most memorable characters from Crysis. More brash and aggressive than his Delta Force squadmate Nomad, players will experience Psycho’s parallel story during the events of the original game, finding that life on the other side of the island is even more intense and explosive than they ever could have imagined. Luckily, Psycho’s Nanosuit is just as capable and he’s equipped with an even bigger arsenal of fully customizable weapons and new vehicles, giving players access to the tools they need to dominate any situation. Aside from this new, exciting single player campaign, Crysis Warhead will also feature new multiplayer content. Stay tuned for more details this summer.

Well there you go. I'm looking forward to it as I enjoyed the first one. Sure, the ending pissed me off but I got over it and am actually keen to see an alternate angle to the story. I just hope they at least progress the story a bit further. Whether I will be able to run it properly thouugh? We'll see

Not going to bother with this if it just ends up being "more of the same". I'll buy it if they add something new, some interesting gameplay mechanics, and something to shoot that isn't endless hordes of korean soldiers or annoying alien drones.

Slightly off topic but: Damn... I just got crysis and the gameplay is fucking awesome. I love the level design and the oponess of it too. I think the plots awesome (I'm sure pkc things otherwise). I think I would get crysis warhead even if it has no features (just new levels). Must admit... although I probably could do delta difficulty the game is MUCH more fun on hard.

I just finished the game again a few hours ago, and it wasn't as bad as I remembered. There's always that god awful alien spaceship level, but once you're through that, it slowly starts to get fun again. The last few levels are some of the best moments in the game.

One thing I do love about this game and never really noticed before now is how the feel and the gameplay completely change throughout the game. It starts off with that sandbox style gameplay, similar to far cry - run through jungles, improvise with what you have, approach a scenario from any angle you want. Then Towards the middle of the game or so it starts shifting toward a more linear cinematic type of gameplay. After you get out of the alien ship, you're pretty much just running for your life the whole time.

I completely agree with all you said. And except for the last boss I tought the aliens were pretty interesting. In most games aliens just look different from humans but fight pretty much in the same way, which is kind of boring.

And I love how in most of the first part of the game you can take your time and plan things out but then when you get out of the spaceship you just feel like you have to run the whole time and get the fuck out of there.

Run it I run it at 1920x1200 high settings 2xAA and its barely playable (dips to low 20s, avg 32 fps) so I really hope they optimize it.

Gameplay was pretty fun, storyline was okay (decent). I'd get it.
