Satan (eek!) Jeremy Olander (Pryda Friends) @ Creamfields Festival, Daresbury Village (25.08.2012)

He is the freshest thing to blossom in dance music in recent memory. A 21st century DJ that represents the opposite of a generic commodity. Modest, patient and ready for the big stage, he’s a 24-year-old remarkably consistent in an inconsistent world.

There is a reason why Eric Prydz, one of the world’s most highly regarded and respected DJ and producer in dance music history, signed Olander for
a five-release deal with his coveted Pryda Friends label, and later asked him to accompany him on his tour. From the very first demo, Prydz knew that there was something special about the Stockholm kid. For years, he had been on the receiving end of music from budding, hopeful producers, but Jeremy’s was to become the first one that had truly made an impression on the selective Swede.

His first two offerings on the label, the ‘Riots/‘Evade’/‘Chronic’ EP, which was later followed up by ‘Fairfax’/’Rypamont’, were both two of the label’s biggest Beatport sellers in 2011. The releases were supported by some of dance music’s most prominent DJs including John Digweed, who dropped ‘Chronic’ on his Transitions radio show, as well as British legendary tastemaker Pete Tong, who played both ‘Fairfax’ and ‘Rypamont’ on his BBC Radio 1 show for two consecutive weeks and later invited Olander to be featured on his ’15 Minutes of Fame’ segment.

Prior to Pryda Friends, Olander has also had releases out on notable labels such as JOOF Records, Spinnin’ Deep and Phazing.
Jeremy Olander’s smart, eclectic and energetic progressive is a novelty in its own right, and his techno productions, under the pseudonym Dhillon, has lit up the underground techno scene with his recently released belter ‘Layerleaf’, which came out on one of the most influential modern techno labels out there; Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. Jeremy is one of a mere two producers to have releases on both Drumcode and Pryda Friends.
On the remix end, German electro house duo Digitalism asked Olander to remix their single ‘Circles’, whilst Swedish standout Adrian Lux invited Jeremy to give his uncanny remix touch to his single ‘Fire’. Canadian star Glenn Morrison also extended a similar request for his release ‘Mine & Yours’, with Jeremy’s remix generating north of 5 times more plays on Soundcloud than all 6 other versions of the track. Combined.

Whilst his remixes and productions have caused major waves, Jeremy Olander consistently has wowed crowds at some of the world’s most famous nightclubs and festivals. The notorious terrace of Ibiza’s Amnesia club, Holland’s huge Dance Valley festival, filling up the Pryda Friends Arena mid-day at Britain’s high profile Creamfields, headlining Tel Aviv’s classic The Cat & Dog as well as the The Palladium in LA to name a few.

Additionally, Jeremy joined techno juggernaut Adam Beyer as a specially invited guest to play London’s mammoth O2 Academy in Brixton for the world premiere of Eric Prydz’ ground breaking EPIC show. He was then invited to do it all over again, this time at legendary Alexandra Palace venue. Throughout the course of the year, Olander has played alongside some of the finest DJs in the business in the likes of Sébastien Léger, Joris Voorn, James Zabiela, Sasha, Adam Beyer, Funk D’Void, John Digweed, Marco Bailey, Paolo Mojo, and Sven Väth to mention a few.

A true artist and student of music, his sound has continued to evolve as he has progressed. His music has gotten bass- driven while still incorporating his trademark melodies, and can at current be described as unpredictable, diverse and filled with copious amounts of emotion. With all of the above taken into consideration, it’s beyond any shadow of a doubt that Jeremy Olander is one of the brightest shining stars in the studded sky of Swedish electronic music exports.

Some other gems of his that are in heavy rotation for me...

Jeremy Olander - Blabla

Depeche Mode - It's No Good (Jeremy Olander Edit)

Jeremy Olander - Milano Test

Jeremy Olander - Tangerine

His Dhillon alias is more techno-oriented...really good productions. Check out his SW4 mix from last year:
Jeremy Olander - SW4 10 Mix

And of course, The Drew, and his remix of Glenn Morrison's Mine and Yours...
