MK2 1200/1210 vs MK5 tables.

Any noticable differences between the two? reason i ask is i can find used mk2's for around $200 and the mk5's new are ~$450. I was told some of them (dont know which type)have a little annoying notch when your trying to speed up a track, or slow it down???

thanks

Don't spend the extra cash on MK5's. Not worth it. Unless, off course, you're buying them new. That "annoying" thing you're talking about, is a click on the middle of the pitch control. It's a click that tells you, that you are at 0% (original pitch). If you go above the click (in the negative pitch), that means you're slowing down the track beyond it's original pitch, why BTW, you shouldn't have to drastically slow down a a track. You can always take the click off, but you would have to open the turntable.

BTW, you should really consider saving up more cash and getting a pair of CDJs. TRUST!!! In the long run, it will save you tons of cash since vinyl is going obsolete and vinyl prices are going out the roof.

Right now, 10 vinyls will cost you arund $100. Think about it, that's 10 songs for $100. If you buy them on Beatport.com, you can download 50 songs at $1.99 each for $100. And, you get higher quality, plus they won't skip on you, and if the CD gets damaged, you can always burn it again.

Food For Though.

Actually I was playing with ableton last night.

Made an impromptu mashup involving parts from 5 different tracks.

It was fun.

I need controller ftw.

The Evolution uc-33e looks more like what I want.

I want 3 band eq per channel and one channel for effects.

that is nice, i was looking at both but i can assign each of those two buttons under the knobs to trigger/stop clips. all those knobs are sweet. but how to we move horizontally through the session view without using the mouse.

i hardly used 3 band eq's on each clip, more like on the master.

i want both.

If you want your mixes to sound very clean, you need 3 band eq per channel. I need to be able to bring in a track and tweak eq at the same time, and just generally be able to have eq's there like on a regular mixer.

I can trigger clips with that using the buttons on the right, and move from channel to channel using same buttons.

Also, I only need 6 channels in live, I rarely have more than 5 clips going at once. I can use 7 and 8 for effects and return channels.

But yeah...ideal would be if I could design my own!
