im glad i found this article on cnn.com..."conflicts rage across the globe"...makes me wonder where we, as a civilization (i'm talking the human race here) are headed...
post your views on where we will be 10, 50, 100 or even 200 years from now. do you think we'll just blow this friggin planet up, or sumhow succeed in realizing a utopia here on earth...
personally i think its all a giant mess, and i have a pretty pessimistic view of things...i'll leave it at that

I'm not too worried. Yes there are a lot of conflicts around the world, but any way you cut it, there are a lot fewer now than pretty much any point in history. It is merely that global communication has increased our awareness of these conflits.

Unfortunately, in Real Life(TM) the good guys don’t always win in the end. I don’t think were heading in the right direction at all. Yes science and technology, in all applicable fields, is advancing – however there is no scrutiny of this development and it’s controlled by the powers that be. Also a globalised free-market where multi-nationals have more say in how the world gets run than elected representatives do, and that really is the case, is in no way shape or form what I would call progress.
I’d love to think that were all going to scrape though and everything is going to be ok in the end, but I really can’t believe that we ever will. From where I sit, the future doesn't look all that nice.

Yes, but only because history is written by the winners.

conflict has always been center stage for humanity. Although all thsi conflict is sad to see, there has been more bloodshed hundreds of years ago. THe only difference now is...we have the power to wipe out the entire world with nuclear war in a smile. AND THAT, is a scary thought.
