Kerry Insults Soldiers Fighting in Iraq

John Kerry demeaned U.S. soldiers fighting over in Iraq when he called them uneducated at a California fundraiser yesterday.

Speaking to a group of students at Pasadena City College, the Massachusetts Senator said, "You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

That, Kerry said, was meant as a reference to US President Bush, not troops.

At a hastily arranged news conference in Seattle, Kerry said the comment in question was "a botched joke about the president and the president's people, not about the troops ... and they know that's what I was talking about."

Bush instantly called Kerry's statement "insulting and shameful." and, like his spokesman earlier, said soldiers deserve an apology from Kerry.

Seems like soldiers agree.

"Kerry's remarks are a left-wing, elitist insult to all those who volunteer to serve-pure and simple," says Flagg Youngblood, a former Army Captain, graduate of Yale, and current Program Officer for Young America's Foundation.

"The days of the radical 1960's are long gone, just like the draft. The myths about the military that the Left told then need to die now, once and for all."

According to December 2005 Department of Defense report, over 90% of military recruits have a high school diploma.

What a fucking idiot! I dont care how you interpret his remark, but what he said is fucking stupid. Come on Mr.Kerry the elections are a dew days ahead and you want to help your party by coming out and saying stupid shit If the Dems lose we all are going to know who the dems will point their finger on.

I think Kerry should reconsider his candidacy for the presidential elections

As someone who just graduated from high school, I can attest to the fact that what he said has quite a bit of truth in it. If I remember correctly, something like 13 people in my graduating class said they were joining the armed forces after high school and of those 13 people, all but one or two of them fit my very scientific description of "fucking stupid." One of them, though, was a good friend of mine and was actually pretty smart, but lazy to the point where he didn't do his work and couldn't get into a decent school.


That said, it indeed wasn't a very smart thing to say, especially so close to election time. The media will and already is blowing this into a huge shit-storm that will only damage the democratic party's results in the election. As for reconsidering his 2008 presidential running, I don't think he should drop out just because he's said something stupid. I mean, that sure didn't hurt Bush all that much. I think he shouldn't run simply because it would be very easy for the GOP to campaign against him since a lot of people would just need a small reminder of the "flip-flopper" crap to get swung over.

He is a rat , he is only against "the war" as Americans are losing but he was fine ordering invasions and genocide based on lies. But hey if it keeps people distracted and he thinks he can gain something personally more power to him but I gather that people like him have propelled Bush administration into the monster it is today based on their corruptness and greed for power .
