"Al Qaeda is the McDonald's of Terrorism"

This is a quote froman unidentified Asian government official, talking about how Al Qaeda has different "franchises" all over the world. I wonder how long before the people who are criticising the countries that want to start attacking terrorism, start waking up, after their loved-ones are effected by this universal problem we call terrorism.

I agree that they have some influence in area's all over the world. However when I first read the title, I thought of a diffrent connection.

Just as alot of times Mcdonalds means the closest place that will sell me a cheap burger, Al Quadea is being used whenever the goverment wants to talk about a fundamentalist Islamic Group, and don't really know what there saying. Thats why on the news they always say "Al Quida is suspected of being in connection with other terrorist groups..." they don't know if they're involved but for there purposes it's easier, and grabs more peoples attention.

I think we overrate Al Qaeda. It's like ISO 2001. Nobody knows what it is, but whenever I company says "Our systems are controlled under the ISO 2001 rules", people rely more in it

Saddam's da Whopper then?

No wait...quarter-pounder with cheese, eh?

Anywayz: Whether Al Quaida or not, Islam terrorism increases dramatically, "paradoxically" at most since 9/11. I assume Terrorists all over the wolrd were encouraged by Al Quadea's succes, 911 served as a proof that terrorists with their unconventional warfare still can strike entire citys, shock the whole world and control it with "fear".
On the other hand appeasment approach by many westerners also gave additional legitimation to their ugly actions. It's the people who sayed "Hey, maybe its our fault, they hate us?" that motivate and indrirectly support their "cruades" against everything non-muslim(religiouslly..bin laden/culturally/politically..saddam like).
