Arrow Sternstunde Vol. 5 [Deep House/Dark Progressive/Dubstep/Ambient/Everything]

Dear community,

I'm excited to present you the brandnew edition of my mix series "Sternstunde". In tradition of the series the listener can expect once again a cross-genre mix that blends a broad range of mostly electronic styles to create a unique sound mosaic.

For the moment, I'll keep the tracklist secret in order to provoke listening without any clue what to expect but will reveal it later on.

Hard facts:
Length: 111.26 min
Bitrate: 192 kBit/s
File size: 153 MB

Sternstunde Vol. 5 @ SoundCloud

I'm looking forward to share this rather unconventional mix and the soundscape it unfolds in those two hours with anyone who is interested.

Saludos,
Thobias Yarana

let's say a dj spins five epic uplifting trance tracks in a row: you would get tired keeping you hands up.
let's say he spins drum and bass after he spun a house track, goes down to downtempo and then up to techno: you would get tired from the change of pace. madly variant tracks spaced too close together means the listener has no room to ride the mix.

you got alot better at matching atmospheres, the general mood and tone of the tracks, but its still waay too inconsistent. the energy moves wildly up and down. like the entire section after the second track where the guitars start playing until 28min. i think i understand what your reasoning is, that you want to be able to do this stuff while the set is starting, and doesnt have much history pressing it forward to big energy dance tunes. the thing is, that section could be placed much later, as its price is to shut out the speed that was setup before it.

still, it was good to listen to, as those section that were consistent were very good.

what the hell is that groovin track at 56min>?

Thanks again for your comment. Although they always tell you not to feed back the feedback I just would like to reply this: If your definition of inconsistency refers to inconsistency of pace, I certainly have to agree with you. Yet, if you are aiming at crossing stilistic boundaries in a mix you will almost inevitably have to sacrifice consistency of pace or sound structure up to a certain degree; after all, that's why the tracks are of different styles. Otherwise you would finally end up mixing a conventional set of rather similar styles. As the purpose of the mix is not to build up energy or to make you move your feet but to create a soundscape that is consistent in the way it puts the listener in a certain mood, I was willing to sacrifice the consistency of pace. Thus, this time I wouldn't change a thing regarding the tracklist as it is my strong belief that every track is in its right place.

The track you mentioned is Matias Chilano - Flashback (Exoplanet Remix).

Alright, I've gotta download this to see what all the fuss is about. Both of you have created quite a stir this early in the morning... and it's not just the coffee having it's way with my bowels.

Hopefully I'll remember later today to listen and give it a review.
